Artistic Statement

As I continue with my education here at Hunter College, my knowledge of film and creativity is advancing.    I can visualize situations from various perspectives which results in my one of many interests, screenwriting.    Ever since I was a child, my love for film and television has been rapidly expanding. Movies is an escape from reality and in my opinion, it is my comfort zone.    As I am getting older, I am gaining deep interests in foreign language. I think it is a very impressive tool of human interaction, especially if someone can speak multiple languages. My new interest in foreign language can carry on with me as I eventually go on to write, direct or even act in my own films.                I also love going to see Broadway shows with my mom. I have seen many and I so far have never been let down. I can be indecisive at times from which route I want to pursue. All I know is that I...

Museum of Modern Art

As I took a self guided tour of the Museum of Modern Art, I was very fascinated by all of the diverse art work and art history they had for display. What I saw, in my opinion one of the most beautiful pieces was a large photo montage of woman giving birth from all different perspectives. It represented the beauty of life and how natural birth of a human being can be show cased as art work. After I analyzed historical photography from the 1970's, I moved on over to the year 2000 which is an obvious difference in technological change. There I saw a 2002 Olympus E-20 camera which is used for commercial projects and a higher resolution for the image.  I also e...

Scene Analysis Assignment

In the diner scene of the movie Heat starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, directed by Michael Mann displayed some interesting editing techniques. As the scene unfolds, there is not much camera movement at all. The scene is very repetitive to display the tone of the two characters. There are only two points of view displayed throughout the entire scene. The two points of view are through both the characters while they have their discussion over coffee. The scene mainly displays two over the shoulder shots matching the intensity of the scene. As the conversation in the scene gets more intense, a medium close up is used for both points of view of the two characters. Instead of making this scene complicated with camera movement such as use of dolly or even a tracking shot, the editing technique of eyeline matching was very effective. The two characters from beginning to end had their eyes set on each other. And to show the audience the intensity of the scene, the proper editing techniq...
