Museum of Modern Art
As I took a self guided tour of the Museum of Modern Art, I was very fascinated by all of the diverse art work and art history they had for display. What I saw, in my opinion one of the most beautiful pieces was a large photo montage of woman giving birth from all different perspectives. It represented the beauty of life and how natural birth of a human being can be show cased as art work. It displayed great affection between a mother and her child, a husband and wife, and a family united. As I toured through the Louise Reinhardt Smith Gallery, I came across fascinating historical pieces such as a 1972 Rollei 35 camera showcased next to a 1973 Graflex Crown Graphic 4 by 5 camera providing a higher image resolution. After I analyzed historical photography from the 1970's, I moved on over to the year 2000 which is an obvious difference in technological change. There I saw a 2002 Olympus E-20 camera which is used for commercial projects and a higher resolution for the image. I also explored the Nature photography gallery which also displayed beautiful high resolution images. Some of the geographic locations that I viewed was Montana, Putnam County New York, Yucatan Mexico and a gelatin silver print of Luzzara Italy. There were many photographic shots of Urban areas all around the country from different decades. The photograph that I was intrigued by was a shot of 1970's San Francisco. That photograph alone explains in many words what this country was like in all urban areas in that time period. Another shot that grabbed my attention was a 1973 photograph in Wisconsin on second street, taken outside of a movie theater. The photographer emphasized a great saturation technique to make the movie theater lights attract the viewers attention. I learned that the time period from 1973 to 1982 was a historical time in accelerated change in National landscape, especially in suburban areas.
